This Saturday, October 24th the Zombie walk caps off with the 1st annual “Little Shop of Horrors” and pre-party for the Zombie Walk at Logan’s Pub, 1821 Cook Street. The market will start at 3pm and vendors can sell until 8:30pm with music to follow. We will be accepting donations at the door during the market. A showcase local artists of all kinds to sell their work from cloths, comics, art pieces, jewelry, leather ware, etc, anything which is Halloween related. I've pondered doing a Halloween day-- make-up, ghost stories, ghoulish events and the like. I thought that 2008 or 2009 would be ideal. Last year passed. This year-- Alisa Shebib and Heather Furneaux organized a craft fair! In the evening there will be performances by Hank and Lily with The Secretaries for their Halloween Tour Kick Off. Joining them local musical performer Dylan Davis. Alisa Shebib will host a Zombie Workshop on stage during the market and other ghoulish surprises to be announced. There's good news if...

ZRA Originally uploaded by triviaqueen The next installment in my Zombie lawn ornament project are some painted rabbits that have been zombied up a notch. Different levels of gore and decay. I have eight zombie rabbits and two zombie ducks. I plan on posting these to Etsy some time soon. As soon as I can get my hands on a supply of gnomes and other lawn folk, I will be zombie-ing them up; as well as do other perversions of lawn ornaments (just you wait).

April was a gauntlet month-- best demonstrated by the fact that I am posting this rant on May 11th. In addition to being busy with home projects, work has been full of adventure. I took on two side projects. One stalled out and dropped into hold mode. The other one turned into a clusterfrak-- I actually emailed them in frustration and said, "I have to quit or I can't fix this." That seemed like a project suicide note. They came back and said, "that's okay-- let's carry on." Holy. But that was good of them. On a more personal note, I have been catching up with too much sleep-- involuntarily so. After work each day I am able to get to dinner, then I stall out. If I am not walking ca. 7PM, I commonly fall asleep. If I am walking (say a mall wander or similar) I usually have to do it with the aid of coffee. It super sucks. The side effect is no exercise and that has led to a steady climb in my weight. Wifey asked " Why are Zombies so hot these days. " Here's my theory: Drugs and The Internet. The Internet In the 1960s in North America people would protest and scrap for anything. I qualify the 1960s and North America-- because protesting and fighting is alive and well everywhere else. Here, we are now quiet-- things happen through mobs that are crowdsourced: opinion surveys, flash mobs and "public opinion". The faceless crowd rules but the passion and humanity is washed out of the equation. We don't take things into our own hands. When a drug addict harasses you or menaces you, you're more likely to move out of harm's way instead of dealing with the offense head-on. In my last confrontation with one of them, I said, "WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM!" and it backed off. Direct confrontation is now the exception to the rule. I have wanted an airbrush for years. The hurdle was the splurge on something that doesn't seem like a necessity and the follow-up expense of the air compressor. I got an airbrush for Christmas (thanks, Sis). I then went to Barclay's Exchange -- the best place to find stuff in town. It's crazy how many odd things I have gotten there at the best possible price in town: Desktop computer PS3 Digital Camera DVDs galore Sledgehammer ... and an Air Compressor I loaded up on art supplies after Christmas, but I had nothing practical to paint. Last year's Cthulhu would have been awesome, but he is now the super-odd lawn ornament at a friend's place. As luck would have it, a friend gave me some lawn ornaments-- plain ornaments. So, I thought: time to Zombie it up a notch! I primed a couple of the ducks (a standing duck for me; a baby duck for Kiddo).
